Santiago Talero-Rueda earned his Law Degree at the Universidad de Los Andes,
in Bogotá, Colombia. He also earned a Specialization Degree in Commercial Law
at the same university. He obtained an LL.M. Degree, with Merit, in International
Business Law, at the London School of Economics & Political Science.
He is a Domestic and International Arbitrator at the Center of Arbitration and
Conciliation of the Chamber of Commerce of Bogotá, and of other arbitration
institutions in Colombia and abroad.
He has been appointed as arbitrator and counsel in several cases, both in
local and international arbitrations, regarding state contracts and complex
commercial transactions, in relation to industries such as telecommunications,
grain products, distribution systems, oil and gas, construction and infrastructure,
and hotel management, among others. He has represented successfully the rights and
interests of different clients in arbitrations seated in Colombia and abroad.
In this regard, he was appointed counsel, among other cases, for a recent international
arbitration, seated in a foreign country, where he obtained a favorable award for the
clients in relation to a business claim within the grain product market.
Santiago has been professor, in undergraduate and postgraduate programs, at prestigious
Colombian and Latin American universities. His teaching experience encompasses areas such
as international commercial arbitration, international investment arbitration, private international
law and international business law. He has been lecturer in multiple forums and events
regarding international arbitration, in Colombia and other countries.
He is the author of the book “Arbitraje Comercial Internacional: instituciones básicas y
derecho aplicable” [“International Commercial Arbitration: basic features and applicable
rules of law”], edited by Temis and the Universidad de Los Andes. His book has been published
in several iberoamerican countries. He has also been the author of numerous legal writings
regarding international arbitration (see below the links to said writings).
